Perfect Edible Christmas Gifts

Perfect Edible Christmas Gifts

So because I am usually broke, especially this time of year, my Christmas gifts are usually edible, and made from what I may have in my pantry. This usually works out pretty well because I like to cook, and people feel that my edible gifts have more heart put into them than if I had just bought them a DVD and wrote something stupid on a card.

Of course, coming up with the perfect edible gift is always a challenge. First you have to make something that can survive the travel required to get to the people they are made for. It also needs to have some kind of unique gift quality to it (giving home-made taco shells made be kind of neat, but isn’t really a gift type of treat).

To make thing easier, or at least give me a menu of ideas to choose from, I have searched the web long and hard to great edible treats that would make the perfect gift this Christmas.

Fudge
Fudge is a classic gift for Christmas. Especially if you are looking for something traditional, yet different. There are so many different types of fudge you can make, so you don’t have to just give plain ole fudge. Fudge stores easily in a stylish Christmas tin, making wrapping and transportation easy.

The Brownie!
Fudges cousin the brownie is easier to make than fudge, and while it doesn’t last as long, and is susceptible to damage during transport, makes a great chocolaty treat.

Salsa (green and red)
Salsa is a great gift because you can put it in a jar! Plus, if you make both red and green salsa, you can offer some Christmas spirit with very festive looking colors.

Candy Popcorn

Popcorn is a great healthy snack, and when you cover it in candy it turns into the perfect sweet gift.

Cheese Ball
This of course must be gifted along with some type of cracker, but the cheese ball in all its glory seems to be saved especially for Christmas time. And nothing says I love you then a big ball of cheese.

Cookies http://www.christmas-cookies.com/recipes/recipe501.crack-top-sugar-cookie.html
There are so many different types of cookies you could make your friends and family this year, but my personal favorite is the sugar cookie. Add just enough brown sugar to make them nice and chewy, and draw a little snow man with icing, and you have the perfect gift that will keep them happy for weeks after Christmas.

Sugar Covered Pecans
Nothing screams the holidays like nuts, but to make them gift quality all you need to do is glaze them in some sugar turning them into sweet candy treats.

Ready to Bake Cinnamon Rolls
Prepare cinnamon roll dough and place in a baking pan and freeze. Wrap up in a plastic food bag and deliver with little instructions on how to bake. Include some icing in a bag, with instructions to cut the corner of the bag and drizzle on the finished rolls.

And of course there are many other possibilities out there. Make this Christmas a tasty one and give something you can put a little bit of your heart and soul into. Everyone loves to eat, so you just can’t go wrong with a edible gift!
